travel insurance including anginaOur travel insurance can include angina (subject to a telephone medical screening).

Discovering that you have angina can be a frightening experience. You might wonder how this will affect the rest of your life - what you'll be able to do and what you might not.

However, these days angina is much more of a manageable condition that in the past because of the treatments now available.

There's often no reason why you can't go on holiday. However, it is extremely important that you have a travel insurance that will include any claims directly or indirectly related to your angina. If you don't you will potentially be opening yourself up to financial risk - it's just not worth it.

Finding travel insurance that includes angina can be difficult - 'ordinary' policies often won't include cover if someone has a medical condition. However, we are specialists in providing travel insurance for people with many pre-existing medical conditions.

We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.

Maybe you're working through a list of companies that you hope will include your angina in their cover. It's quite possible you've been told that it can't be covered or, if it can, that you've been quoted a very high price. Maybe you are becoming more disheartened as you work your way down your list. Well, hopefully your search will end here!

Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone with angina - it will depend on your individual circumstances. Our experienced staff will need to ask you some questions in order to understand your particular situation. They will then be able to tell you if we can provide travel insurance for you that can include your angina. If so, they'll be able to give you a quote and handle the booking of the policy for you.

What are the implications for travel insurance and angina?

Any kind of insurance is based on how the insurer determines the level of risk.

People's experience of angina varies - from it being quite unstable to being well controlled by medication. Some kind of average needs to be determined but at the same time, take into account (as far as possible) someone's individual circumstances.

The premium will therefore be affected by the outcome of the telephone medical screening process.

It’s important to have adequate travel insurance that includes angina because you're exposing yourself to serious financial risk, otherwise.

Potential costs if you don't have travel insurance that includes cover for angina:

If you were to become ill and need medical attention, the cost of consultations, investigations, tests, nursing care etc could add up to a signficant amount!

If you are on a cruise ship or somewhere remote, it might be necessary to get you to hospital by air ambulance. The cost of this is extremely high.

If you need to be repatriated to the UK, you might need medical staff to accompany you. This is expensive.

Even if you don't need medical staff with you on your return journey, you might need to have bought new return tickets.

If you have had to spend time in hospital and a partner or travelling companion has stayed with you, it may be necessary for them to buy extra time in their accommodation. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your angina will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.

Taking all this into account, is it really worth not having specialist travel insurance that includes angina?
