We regularly provide travel insurance that covers arthritis. We specialise in providing travel insurance for people with medical conditions. In fact, we receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.

Arthritis can affect people in very different ways. Sometimes it's well controlled and impinges in only minor ways into someone's life.

However, sometimes the effects are more pronounced and serious.

The danger is, if you take out 'ordinary' travel insurance (which usually isn't designed to include cover for arthritis) and something happens, for example you have a fall, your claim could be declined. The insurer might determine that your claim was linked to your arthritis and therefore not covered.

Obviously we can't guarantee to provide travel insurance to everyone with arthritis - we will need to ask you some questions about it. Our experienced staff will then build up a picture of your individual circumstances and be able to tell you if we can offer travel insurance to include your arthritis. If so, they will be able to provide you with a quote and if you'd like to go ahead and book the policy, you can do so in the same call.

What are the travel insurance impications if you have arthritis?

As we've mentioned, 'ordinary' travel insurance usually isn't designed to include claims related, directly or indirectly, to arthritis.

If you do need to consult a doctor while you're away or need hospital treatment, medical bills can become very expensive. These can include not only the medical consultation but also any investigatory examinations, medication, physiotherapy, medical and nursing care.

If you need to return home later than your planned date, new return travel arrangements will need to be made. If you need to be repatriated, these costs can be high, too.

Sometimes you need to extend your accommation arrangements.

These additional costs might also apply to a partner or travelling companion who has extended their trip to remain with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your arthritis will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.

It's just not worth the risk of having travel insurance that doesn't include arthritis!
