It is incredibly important to have your atrial fibrillation included in your travel insurance. If you don't you could be opening yourself up to potentially very serious financial risk. We will need to ask you some questions about your atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat affects you. This enables us to understand your individual circumstances and tell you if we can include any claims related to your atrial fibrillation in our cover. What are the implications for travel insurance if you have atrial fibrillation? Atrial fibrillation or an irregular heart beat can sometimes mean that medical attention is required urgently and involved specialist care. Inevitably, related costs can be high. If you've declared your atrial fibrillation to us and we've accepted it in our cover, then things like consultations, investigations, medication and nursing care will be covered by the policy. We will also cover other costs, for example, if you need to make new travel arrangements to get home or you need to be repatriated (including being accompanied by someone medically qualified). Additional costs related to travel arrangements and accommodation costs will also be covered - not only for you but also if a partner or travelling companion has stayed with you.It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your atrial fibrillation will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
