If you've taken out only 'ordinary' travel insurance, it's quite possible that your claim will be declined. This is because that kind of policy usually isn't created to include cover for things like COPD. We'll need to ask you some questions about your COPD, to get an understanding of your situation. What are the travel insurance implications if I have COPD?

If your COPD has been accepted for cover, our travel insurance includes claims for medical consultations, examinations, treatment and nursing care. These can otherwise be very expensive.

Should you need to extend your trip because you're not well enough to return home on your planned date, your policy is automatically extended. We will also pay for alternative return travel arrangements to be made. We'll even pay for any extra travel and accommodation costs incurred by a partner or travelling companion who has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your COPD will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
