What are the travel insurance implications if I have Crohn's disease?

The element of cover that many people feel is most important is medical cover. Our policy will cover you for things like consultation costs with a doctor, diagnostic investigations or examinations, medication and, if necessary hospital and nursing care.

However, there may be other situations where our cover will be useful. If you become ill before you even begin your trip and you have to cancel on medical grounds, then costs you've incurred will be met. These can include travel and acommodation costs.

If you become ill towards the end of your trip and you're unable to return home on the date planned, you will need to make new travel arrangements. If a partner or travelling companion has stayed with you, their new travel arrangements will also be met. If they have needed to stay in accommodation longer than planned, these costs will also be met. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your Crohn's will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.

It's simply not worth travelling without travel insurance that includes Crohn's disease.
