The very nature of diverticulitis can mean that it can be unpredictable. It is therefore essential that you have travel insurance that includes claims related to it. If you don't you could be opening yourself up to financial risk. Finding travel insurance that includes this condition can be difficult. 'Ordinary' travel insurance usually isn't created to include cover for things like diverticulitis. However, we specialise in providing travel insurance for people with a range of medical conditions. We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK. Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone with diverticulitis - it will depend on your individual circumstances. We will, therefore, need to ask you some questions, to get an understanding of your situation. Our experienced staff will then be able to tell you if we can offer you travel insurance that includes your colitis and, if so, what the price would be. You can book the policy in the same phone call. What are the travel insurance implications if I have diverticulitis? Our policy is comprehensive, so you will be covered if you have to cancel your trip for medical reasons. Unfortunately, diverticulitis can flare up suddenly. However, if we've accepted to cover it, you will be covered for medical consultations, examinations, treatment and nursing care. These can otherwise be very expensive. If you need to extend your trip because you're not well enough to travel, we will cover the costs involved in re-arranging your return travel arrangements. We will also pay for any extra travel and accommodation costs incurred by a partner or travelling companion who has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your diverticulitis will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
