A DVT is a blood clot which normally occurs in the leg and is often first identified by a throbbing pain in the calf or thigh area, with the skin becoming warm and painful to touch. These symptoms could result in the clot breaking loose, which may lead to more serious clots in your lungs or heart.
Our travel insurance policies can offer cover if you currently have, or have previously been treated for a DVT. It is important that you declare your condition to your travel insurers, even if you are now on precautionary treatment such as blood thinners, so that you are fully covered for anything that could be directly or indirectly related to your condition including cancellation cover or medical treatment abroad.
