travel insurance including haemophiliaWe regularly provide travel insurance to people who have haemophilia. In fact, we receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.

Having haemophilia doesn't necessarily mean you can't travel and go on holiday. But it's essential to have travel insurance that will cover any claims related (directly or indirectly) to your haemohpilia. It's simply not worth taking the risk, otherwise.

Medical bills can be expensive enough but if you need to be air ambulanced to a hospital, that could run into many thousands of pounds!

'Ordinary' travel insurance is usually not designed to provide cover if someone has medical conditions. We specialise in providing travel insurance for people with a very wide range of pre-existing medical conditions.

Our experienced staff will go through some questions with you, in order to get a picture of your individual circumstances. They'll then be able to tell you if we can provide travel insurance that includes haemophilia and, if so, what the price would be. They'll also be able to book the policy for you.

If you also have HIV, please go to our special HIV web site (www.hivtravelinsurance.com).

What are the travel insurance implications if I have haemophilia?

Haemophilia is, unfortunately, one of those conditions that can require urgent medical attention. That's why it's so important to go through our medical screening process so we make a note of it and can assure you that any claims related to it are covered.

As well as covering your medical expenses, we will, if necessary, cover the costs of an air ambulance. This is vitally important if you are somewhere remote or need to be transported urgently to a suitable medical facility. If you're not insured, this would be a very large expense - easily running into thousands of pounds!

If you can't return home on your planned date for medical reasons, we'll pay for alternative travel arrangements to be made, not only for you but for a partner or travelling companion who has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your haemophlia will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.

In our opinion, no one should take the risk of travelling without a specialist travel insurance that includes haemophilia.
