Travel insurance including cover for hernias

travel insurance including herniaWe can provide travel insurance if you have or have had a hernia, subject to a telephone medical screening.

Generally speaking, 'standard' travel insurance policies won't include cover for pre-existing medical conditions including hernias. If you take out one of these policies and then need to make a claim even indirectly related to your hernia, it's likely it will be declined. Our policy is designed to cover a wide range of medical conditions. We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.

Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone who has a hernia as there are different kinds. Each type of hernia will affect the body in different ways We will therefore need to talk to you and ask you some questions about how your hernia affects you.

We'll then build up a picture of your particular situation and, if we can cover claims related to your hernia, be able to provide you with a premium quotation. You will be able to book your policy with us in the same call, if you would like.

What are the travel insurance implications if you have or have had a hernia?

As long as you've declared your hernia to us and we've accepted to cover it, any medical costs you might incur while you're away will be covered. These could include consultations with doctors, diagnostic tests, medication and, if necessary, hospital or nursing care.

If you're unable even to begin your trip because of something related to your hernia, your travelling and accommodation costs will be covered.

If you have to extend your trip and accommodation, these costs will be met, not only for you but if a partner or travelling companion has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your hernia will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
