What are the travel insurance implications if you have leukaemia?

People are most concerned about having their cancellation and medical costs covered, including any claims related to their leukaemia. As long as you've declared your medical condition to us and we've accepted it in the cover, these costs will be met.

They could include costs incurred if you have to cancel your trip before you even begin it (eg fares and accommodation).

Medical costs could include doctors' consultations, examinations or investigations, medication and hospital and nursing care.

If you're unable to return home on the planned date, you might incur extra travel and accommodation costs. These would be covered also for a partner or travelling companion who stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your leukaemia will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
