Yes, it is possible to obtain life assurance if you have hepatitis. Insurers who normally provide life assurance will regard hepatitis as a pre-existing condition and cover is likely to be declined. This is especially the case if you have hepatitis B and/or C, which can have longer term health implications. That's why it can be particularly difficult to obtain cover.

We can often able to provide life assurance cover in situations where others refuse. Obviously, it will depend on your individual circumstances and we will need to obtain some information from you about your hepatitis in order to be able to let you know if cover is possible.

Life assurance can be difficult to think or talk about, especially if you have a pre-existing medical condition. However, if we're honest and upfront whilst also being sensitive, we can try to ensure your needs are met.

One of the most important things to consider is how much cover you need a life assurance policy to provide. This is the same whether you have hepatitis or no medical condition.

If you have a joint mortgage, you may well want to ensure that the policy will pay out enough either to cover only your share or the whole amount. You may want to ensure that there's enough to cover funeral expenses. If you have children, you might want to leave them some money as a gift. You might wish to do the same for other members of your family or even friends.
