Needing to have had a lumpectomy causes most people, understandably, to feel concerned and it may be some time before they feel able to travel again. When the thought of taking a trip does feel appealing, you may wonder if you can obtain travel insurance. The answer is yes! We specialise in providing travel insurance for people with a wide range of medical conditions. In fact, we receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK. It's very important to have a travel insurance policy that includes any claims directly or indirectly linked to your lumpectomy. Obviously we can't guarantee to provide travel insurance to everyone who has had a lumpectomy - we will need to ask you some questions about it. We will need you to have had a period of stability after your operation. Our experienced staff will build up a picture of your individual circumstances and be able to tell you if we can offer travel insurance for you. If so, they will be able to provide you with a quote and if you'd like to go ahead and book the policy, you can do so in the same call. What are the travel insurance impications if you have had a lumpectomy? As we've mentioned, 'ordinary' travel insurance usually isn't designed to include claims related, directly or indirectly, to pre-existing medical conditions. If you do need to consult a doctor while you're away or need hospital treatment, medical bills can become very expensive. These can include not only the medical consultation but also any investigatory examinations, medication, physiotherapy, medical and nursing care. If you need to return home later than your planned date, new return travel arrangements will need to be made. If you need to be repatriated, these costs can be high, too. These additional costs might also apply to a partner or travelling companion who has extended their trip to remain with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your having had a lumpectomy will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
