We are delighted to work in partnership with Scotwest Credit Union to offer you travel insurance. As well as our standard cover, we can also offer cover for members with pre-existing medical conditions and anyone looking to travel with someone who falls into this category. Why take out travel insurance? Many of us wonder at some time or another, if it's worth taking out travel insurance. I have myself. However, if you'd heard some of the stories that I have, I think you'd be in no doubt! Just to give you one example: A man fell off a low wall and broke his ankle while away. He needed to be air-ambulanced to the nearest hospital. The claim was £25,000! It's just not worth the risk. Medical conditions The need for travel insurance is especially important if you have any kind of medical condition. Many people don't consider they have a medical condition, especially if they think it's minor or well controlled. However, if things like blood pressure, cholesterol or any other condition is not declared and accepted, any claim (directly or indirectly-related) could be declined. Not only that, if you are the travelling companion of someone with a pre-existing medical condition that hasn't been declared to us, or if you're insured under a more basic travel insurance policy, you could find that if you make a claim (eg cancellation, curtailment or extending your policy) that's directly or indirectly linked to your travelling companion's medical condition(s) it could be declined. Again, it's just not worth it! We also offer a separate policy for anyone who is HIV+ or travelling with someone who is. Please click here for further information. Scotwest Credit Union will receive a donation for each policy sold to members. Kevin Waite
