We can often provide travel insurance that includes COPD (subject to a medical screening).
Finding travel insurance that includes COPD can be difficult. We specialise in providing travel insurance for people with a range of medical conditions. We receive referrals from hospitals, GPs, clinics and medical charities from all over the UK.
If you have COPD, if the worst came to the worst and you needed urgent medical attention, the last thing you need to be concerned about is the medical expense involved.
If you've taken out only 'ordinary' travel insurance, it's quite possible that your claim will be declined. This is because that kind of policy usually isn't created to include cover for things like COPD. However, if you've declared your COPD to us and we've accepted to cover it, claims related to it will be met.
Obviously we can't guarantee to cover everyone with COPD - it will depend on your particular circumstances. We'll need to ask you some questions about your COPD, to get an understanding of your situation.
The quickest and easiest way is to go through our online medical screening process, which keeps down costs and therefore premiums.
If your COPD has been accepted for cover, our travel insurance includes claims for medical consultations, examinations, treatment and nursing care. These can otherwise be very expensive.
Should you need to extend your trip because you're not well enough to return home on your planned date, your policy is automatically extended. We will also pay for alternative return travel arrangements to be made. We'll even pay for any extra travel and accommodation costs incurred by a partner or travelling companion who has stayed with you. It is therefore very important that anyone travelling with you is covered by our policy so that any claim they need to make that could be in any way regarded as linked to your COPD will be met. An 'ordinary' travel insurance might decline their claim on the same grounds as they might decline a claim made by you.
