Oops, did you travel without insurance? We can get you back on track
Angina (also known as Angina Pectoris) is a heart condition which can cause chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart, something that can be treated numerous ways including stenting, a heart bypass or even medication. It is something that can occur out of nowhere and it is imperative to make sure that should there be an issue whilst you are on a trip that you have the adequate insurance in place.
Each year around 20,000 people in the UK develop angina for the first time, it is more common in people over the age of 50 but not exclusive to over 50’s and therefore if you do have angina it is important to make sure the travel insurance you are purchasing covers this and the policy is suitable to what you are looking for. As with all conditions, we understand that angina will affect each person differently so we require you to complete a medical screening to help us assess the severity of your condition and offer the most suitable, and best priced, travel insurance policy.
We often find that people with angina, may also have other heart-related complications such as narrowed arteries, high blood pressure or high cholesterol. During your medical screening, it's important to remember any medication that may be linked to your diagnosis, as we will need to account for this to ensure you are fully covered in the event of a claim.
It's always advisable to speak with your doctor before travelling abroad with a heart condition, especially if it's your first trip away since diagnosis. Your GP is best placed to tailor advice based on your medical diagnosis. If you are travelling on a long-haul flight to Australia, you may be advised to keep on the move as much as possible to maintain healthy blood circulation!
