HIV+ travel insurance

Specialist travel insurance policy that automatically covers HIV

Travel insurance for HIV

It's So Easy was founded by Kevin Waite, who worked in the HIV sector for over 30 years. Having worked at London Lighthouse (which became Europe's largest HIV/AIDS centre) first as a volunteer, then full-time establishing the Welfare Service. He developed this HIV travel insurance policy using his knowledge and experience. Find out more about the history of It's So Easy by visiting about us.

We have a unique travel insurance policy that automatically covers HIV, without any additional charge and without the need to mention it on your policy documentation. You will only need to disclose your HIV if your medication or dosage has changed recently. There is no HIV specific wording on your policy, only within the policy terms and conditions where HIV is listed as one of many automatically covered conditions.

Our policies provide the appropriate level of travel insurance required for anyone living with HIV, without the need to broadcast it across policy documents. We feel HIV should be treated equally among pre-existing medical conditions without the often-attached stigma. Our insurance policies offer peace of mind for travellers, allowing them to rest in the knowledge that if they lose their medication or require medical treatment, they can contact the 24 hour emergency medical assistance team. Our policy also covers other claims that could be related directly or indirectly to HIV, incorporating cancellation, medical expenses and cover for personal property.

Travel and holiday insurance if you are HIV+

There are a number of reasons why this policy is so important to those with HIV, but the main one is equality and treating customers fairly. People living with HIV should not be penalised by insurers excluding their medical condition, or paying disproportionate premiums to include cover, especially if their HIV is well controlled and poses no additional risk to the insurer. The National Aids Trust (www.NAT.org.uk) conducted a survey about HIV and clients access to financial products across the market; the results of this survey showed that 60% of their respondents had avoided applying for a financial product because of their HIV status, due to fears of high costs, refusal and stigma. Only 28% of respondents knew where to look for HIV inclusive financial products as specialist insurers can be hard to find.

Finding the right travel insurance cover has never been more important, with increasing medical bills and the increased risk posed by COVID-19 to those with a weakened immune system. Our policies give you complete cover which includes emergency medical expenses, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment. You can obtain a quote online but if you would prefer to speak with us, you can call our friendly UK call centre on 01223 785 513 to discuss your requirements.
