We have been covering serious medical conditions for more than 20 years including cancer and heart conditions, but that doesn’t mean we can’t cover minor conditions such as glaucoma. It’s important to let your insurer know of any medical history that falls within the medical declaration questions. Once the screening is complete, and we have accepted the risk to insure your pre-existing medical conditions, you will be fully covered should you need to make a claim before or during your trip. If you fail to declare your condition, and an incident arises that is either directly or indirectly related to your pre-existing medical condition, the claim could be denied.
People with glaucoma rarely have any restrictions on air travel, however, it’s always advisable to speak with your GP or consultant when planning a trip. Consider the change in time zones when you are away and ensure you are taking medication or eye drops at the recommended intervals. The severity of your condition may lead to you becoming more accident prone so it may be worth considering a travelling companion!
